Today I heard a startling statistic. Just last weekend, 44 people were shot in Chicago. That brings the total number to 1650 people shot already this year. There’s a war going on in Chicago, and everyone is ignoring it. Meanwhile, across the country, 100 people get shot all at once by some crazy, sexually repressed religious nut, and everyone freaks out. Headline after headline. For days. Then we all forget about it and go about our business.
Except of course the violence continues every week in Chicago. Why is the nation ignoring the war in Chicago? If we actually care about ending threats to innocent Americans on American soil, ISIS is not our primary concern.
