Happy Winter Solstice!
The sun is born again.
I always breathe a sigh of relief on December 22, because I know in my mind that the days are aren’t getting shorter. The sun will return—the days get longer, and the temperature (eventually) gets warmer. Simply knowing that makes me feel better. Continue reading “Happy Winter Solstice!”
Minimalism
Does it bring me joy?
I stumbled across a movement called minimalism this week, and it has really struck a chord. In some ways I have always been a minimalist. However, it’s not an idea that I had formally considered, so I haven’t fully incorporated it into all areas of my life. I think it’s time, now.

I just listened to a really wonderful podcast conversation between Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson. I really liked Peterson’s metaphor for how ideologies are like low-resolution ideas, and this concept made an impression on me because of my background in graphic design. More importantly, it gave me a better understanding of what I’m attempting to do in this blog, which is to take a broad brush, paint some quick strokes, and then start filling in the details as best I can in order to make a high-resolution picture of an issue.
