Coping with the realization that there is no afterlife.
Perhaps my greatest regret in losing my belief in god, is also having to let go of the concept of an afterlife in paradise. It’s a nice idea to be rewarded with a perfect vacation for your soul after you’ve worked hard at life. Yeah… it’d be nice to have one forever party in the sky… sigh. I’m in a number of Facebook groups that discuss atheism and theism. Usually I am a silent observer as I read through the threads. Sometimes I have a few thoughts that I feel like jotting down, which is what this article is; a hodge podge of ideas. I’ll organize as I go, and if a section gets big enough I’ll break it into its own post.

Common arguments for the existence of god and their refutations.
In conversations with theists, here are a number of ideas I’ve been told are “proof of god”. I will start with saying a few things:
First, this discussion cannot exist in the scientific realm. The reason? A scientist does not start with an answer and then cherry pick observations that support that answer.
